MASIERO FAMILY

Authenticity, nature and passion

We found this magical place in 1996 and moved here after two years where we gradually discovered a way of life closer to nature. A first-attempt harvest almost made as a joke led us to slowly accepting the bet against everything and everyone: “Let’s make Merlot in Selva!”

And so old memories came back to surface about a rebel little rascal named Franco who would follow his father Andrea to the small family vineyard instead of attending school. Back then a lot of sacrifices were made and not too many satisfactions were given but the hard work and the passion would always define Franco’s life.
“VERDUGO” is indeed dedicated to Andrea and since 2007 it has given many new friends and great satisfaction..

Wine is soil and it remains such until it arrives on a table: at that moment it transforms itself, it becomes emotion and an answer.

This is how I approached wine with great respect and passion for this unpredictable “odorous liquid” and with time the curiosity has gone beyond the glass. In 2015 I started to observe with a closer eye what was happening around me and the boldness of my 22 years gave me desire to become part of it.

I slowly gained confidence in myself and I was cleverly left space to fail, cry, get upset and then fail again but a little better each time, always holding my head up high.

IN BALANCE WITH NATURE

Franco

Our role is to assist the tasks of nature and to respect its cycles, to chase it when necessary, to observe it with bated breath knowing that everything that could be done has been done, but also to agree to its physiological rest.

All this, trying to maintain a balance based more on removing than on putting, rejecting any possible chemical intervention that could alter the peculiarities of the microclimate and destroy the life of the soil.
