IN HARMONY WITH NATURE

Biodynamics

Modern Biodynamic Agriculture expresses the most coherent evolution and application of the postulates of Rudolf Steiner presented to farmers at the conferences held in Austria in June 1924. It is thanks to him and to his skills that today we have not lost our knowledgeable heritage that has led the agricultural development over the millennia.

Steiner was neither an agronomist nor a farmer. His intention was to lay the foundations to assure a future to agriculture not in the form of dogmas but throughout research: experimenting, observing, verifying, establishing numbers and tables sufficiently clear to be used by all.

BIODYNAMIC PREPARATIONS

Corno letame

The horn manure is the main preparation and it’s used to stimulate and harmonize the processes of humus formation in the soil. The basic components are made of very fresh manure and horns from cows that have at least once given birth. At the beginning of autumn the manure is put inside the horns, which are later buried in a suitable place and unearthed during the Easter period.

The manure placed inside the horns turns into odorless and dark humus and it is stored in specially constructed containers that allow perspiration and at the same time protect the humus from the outside. Before use, other preparations obtained from the maceration of flowers, grasses and bark can be inoculated according to the needs of the soil. The preparation is used concomitantly with soil tillage, in particular after the spread of green manure and the deep tillage of soil during autumn.

BIODYNAMIC PREPARATIONS

Corno Silice

Corno silice is prepared by finely grinding white quartz crystals. The powder obtained is then moistened and inserted in cow horns, which all get buried in autumn and unearthed at Easter. The white silica powder is kept in bright light and then is mixed with source water at 37 ° C, stir it for an hour and distributing the fine spray mixture on the foliar system.

This treatment is carried out in two phases: the first in the early morning to enhance growth and fruiting, and the second in the late afternoon for plants to store as many nourishment as possible.
